Scored by Surabhi Singh
Fireflies.ai is an AI meeting assistant built to capture conversations, turn them into searchable transcripts and summaries, and push useful meeting context into the systems where teams already work. The product now spans much more than a meeting bot: it supports desktop and Chrome bot-free capture, mobile recording, uploaded audio and video, AskFred, AI Skills, Personal Assistant, Voice Agents, conversation intelligence, team analytics, CRM integrations and API-driven automation.
That breadth is Fireflies' biggest advantage. A sales team can automatically record a Zoom call, generate notes, run a MEDDIC-style AI Skill, sync the meeting to Salesforce and trigger a follow-up workflow without manually copying information between tools. A researcher or consultant can record an in-person conversation on mobile, search the transcript later and extract structured takeaways.
The main complexity is pricing. Fireflies separates the core seat subscription from an AI-credit economy used by many advanced features. Pro and Business are competitively priced, but teams that rely heavily on AskFred, AI Skills, Voice Agents or other advanced AI actions should budget the seat cost and the credit add-on together.
Quick verdict
Key takeaways
- Free remains useful, but new Free users need Auto-join enabled to unlock unlimited eligible meeting transcripts under the September 2026 rules
- Pro is $18 monthly or $10 annual-equivalent; Business $29/$19; Enterprise $39 annual-only
- Advanced AI features use separate credits, with add-ons starting at 50 credits for $5/month and unused purchased credits not rolling over

What is Fireflies.ai?
Fireflies is a conversation-intelligence and AI note-taking platform. Its original use case is automatic meeting capture: the Fireflies Notetaker joins a supported meeting, records and transcribes the conversation, then creates summaries and searchable notes.
The product now supports several capture modes beyond the bot. The desktop app can record system audio without adding a participant to the call. Chrome capture supports bot-free workflows in supported browser meetings. The iOS and Android apps can record in-person conversations, and users can upload existing audio or video files for transcription.
After capture, Fireflies becomes a knowledge layer. Users can search meetings, ask AskFred questions, run AI Skills, generate follow-up work, extract tasks and sync outputs to CRM, collaboration and automation systems.
Who should use Fireflies?
Fireflies is best for teams with frequent conversations that create follow-up work. Sales, customer success, recruiting, consulting, research and professional-services teams can all benefit because the product turns repeated meetings into structured data instead of isolated recordings.
It is especially useful when teams need more than one capture method. A company that runs Zoom calls, in-person interviews, phone calls and uploaded-recording workflows can keep more of those conversations in one searchable system.
Fireflies is less attractive for users who want a simple flat-price note taker and do not want to think about advanced-AI credits. It is also a weaker fit when the core job is editing a recording into publishable media rather than understanding the conversation.
How we evaluated Fireflies
Testing methodology
Testing Evidence
Meeting capture options
Feature Breakdown
joins supported online meetings as a visible participant and produces speaker-labeled recordings/transcripts
records system audio without adding a bot and provides live notes/transcript
records in-person conversations from iOS/Android
transcribes supported uploaded audio/video
conversational Q&A over meeting content and broader meeting context
reusable templates for sales, interview, review and other structured meeting analysis
Daily Digest, Meeting Prep, Tasks and other meeting productivity workflows
analyzes customer/team conversations for patterns and performance
connects meeting data to CRM, Slack, workflow tools and custom applications
Fireflies supports both visible-bot and bot-free meeting capture. With the standard Notetaker, Fireflies joins the call as a participant and can produce speaker-labeled transcripts and recordings.
The desktop app's Take Notes mode captures system audio directly from the device without placing a bot in the meeting. This reduces meeting friction, but there are tradeoffs: current documentation says bot-free system-audio capture does not save audio/video and may label speakers generically rather than by name.
This choice is valuable because teams can match capture style to the meeting. A formal customer call may benefit from full bot recording and speaker identification, while an internal or ad hoc call may be easier to capture with the desktop app.
Free-plan transcription rules in September 2026
Fireflies still markets unlimited transcription on Free, but new-user behavior changed on September 1, 2026. Fireflies introduced transcription credits for new Free accounts and a specific method for unlocking unlimited eligible meeting transcripts.
New Free users can enable Auto-join so Fireflies automatically joins eligible calendar meetings and transcribes them without a meeting-count cap. Other capture methods, such as certain manual recordings or uploads, can draw from the Free account's transcription credits.
Users who signed up before September 1, 2026 and already had unlimited free meetings keep their existing limits. This makes signup date and capture method important when comparing Free-plan experiences.
Transcription and language support
Fireflies advertises transcription across more than 100 languages. That makes it one of the broadest multilingual meeting assistants in SearchSagar's current dataset.
Language breadth is not the same as perfect accuracy. Accents, overlapping speakers, noisy audio and technical vocabulary can still reduce transcript quality. Teams should review names, numbers and customer commitments before sending AI-generated notes into a system of record.
Business adds Multi-language Mode, which is designed for conversations where speakers change languages within the same meeting.
AI meeting summaries
Free includes limited AI summaries, while Pro and higher include unlimited standard AI summaries. Summaries can reduce the time spent reviewing long transcripts, and G2 reviewers frequently mention this as a core productivity benefit.
Advanced or custom summary workflows can use AI credits. That distinction matters because a team can have unlimited standard summaries but still pay for specialized AI analysis.
AskFred
AskFred is Fireflies' conversational AI layer. Users can ask questions about a meeting, extract details, draft follow-up content and work across meeting context.
Fireflies has expanded AskFred beyond simple per-meeting Q&A. Some broader or advanced AskFred experiences use AI credits dynamically based on the complexity of the request.
This makes AskFred powerful but less predictable than a fixed feature allowance. Teams that use it for frequent cross-meeting analysis should watch credit consumption rather than assume every question is covered by the base seat price.
AI Skills
AI Skills are reusable prompts/templates that turn meeting content into structured analysis. Fireflies promotes more than 100 templates, including sales frameworks such as BANT and MEDDIC, interview feedback and other role-specific outputs.
AI Skills are useful because they standardize what gets extracted from calls. A sales manager can apply the same qualification framework across many meetings instead of asking every rep to summarize manually.
They consume AI credits, and Fireflies says credit use can depend on complexity. Teams should test the exact Skills they plan to use rather than estimating cost from one generic credit-per-meeting assumption.
Personal Assistant
The Personal Assistant combines meeting-preparation and follow-up utilities such as Daily Digest, Meeting Prep and Tasks. It is designed to make Fireflies useful before and after calls rather than only as an archive.
This can reduce the work of preparing for repeated customer conversations. For example, a rep can review past call context before the next meeting and then turn new action items into a task list afterward.
Voice Agents
Fireflies also offers Voice Agents on eligible paid accounts. This extends the product from passive note-taking into active AI voice workflows.
Voice Agents consume AI credits. Teams considering them should model voice-agent usage separately from normal meeting transcription because standard transcription is covered by the seat plan while advanced agent behavior draws from the add-on pool.
Conversation intelligence and team analytics
Business and Enterprise add conversation intelligence and team analytics. These features are designed for managers who need to identify patterns across many calls rather than inspect one transcript at a time.
Revenue and customer-success teams can use conversation intelligence to track objections, talk patterns or coaching opportunities. The value depends on consistent capture and clear permissions across the workspace.
CRM integrations
Fireflies advertises more than 100 integrations. Directly verified examples include HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Dropbox and Zapier-supported workflows.
CRM integrations are especially important because they turn meeting notes into operational data. A call can be associated with the correct CRM record, reducing the amount of manual copy-paste after customer meetings.
Integration depth varies by external product, permissions and Fireflies plan. Teams should validate the exact CRM objects and fields they need before assuming a generic integration logo means full two-way automation.
API and workflow automation
Fireflies includes API access and supports workflow integrations that can route transcripts, summaries and meeting metadata into other applications.
This is useful for teams building custom knowledge bases, compliance archives or internal analytics. API access also makes Fireflies a data source rather than forcing users to do all downstream work in the Fireflies interface.
AI credits
Advanced features use AI credits. Current paid add-on packages are 50 credits for $5 per month, 200 for $20, 1,000 for $90, 2,500 for $200, 5,000 for $375, 7,500 for $450 and 10,000 for $600. Annual AI-credit billing is 20% lower.
Purchased credits are shared across the workspace. They do not roll over to the next billing cycle. Fireflies also supports auto-upgrade behavior that can move the workspace into a higher AI-credit package when the current allocation is exhausted.
That is the main budgeting risk in the product. A team can start with a low base subscription and later discover that advanced AI is the larger part of the bill.

Free trial
Fireflies currently offers a seven-day free trial of the Business plan. A valid credit or debit card is required to activate the trial, but the initial charge is $0.
If the user does not cancel before the trial ends, the selected paid plan begins automatically. Invited teammates who accept become billable seats after the trial. Fireflies also offers an optional AI-credit trial that can convert into a paid credit subscription if it is not canceled separately.
This separation is important: canceling the core Fireflies trial and canceling an AI-credit trial are distinct actions.
Refund policy
For monthly subscriptions, Fireflies says a full refund can be available when the account has been used for seven days or less and logged three or fewer meetings. When usage exceeds those limits, a prorated monthly refund may apply.
Annual subscriptions can qualify for a full refund within seven days when 20 or fewer meetings were logged. Annual prorated refunds are not available. AI-credit purchases are non-refundable.
Security and privacy
Fireflies publishes SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and HIPAA compliance claims. Its current security pages also emphasize Zero Data Retention with third-party vendors, Private Storage and customer ownership of meeting data.
Enterprise includes security and governance features such as SSO, SCIM, audit logs, private storage, custom retention and super-admin controls. HIPAA and FERPA-oriented configurations require Enterprise and additional setup.
Fireflies states that meeting content is not used to train AI models. Enterprise buyers should still review the Trust Center, retention settings, BAA requirements and exact storage architecture for their use case.
What G2 users say
The SearchSagar research record lists Fireflies.ai at 4.7/5 from 753 G2 reviews as of September 23, 2026. Positive themes include useful summaries, good transcription, ease of setup and time savings.
Recurring criticism includes inaccurate AI output, weaker summaries in some meetings, bot or meeting-management friction and cost concerns. Those cost concerns are understandable because the seat plan and AI-credit subscription are separate.
Meeting-data governance
Fireflies becomes more valuable as the meeting archive grows, but the archive also becomes more sensitive. Teams should define who can record, who can view meetings, whether external calls are shared by default, how long recordings are retained and which CRM or automation destinations are allowed to receive meeting data.
Enterprise controls such as SSO, SCIM, audit logs, private storage and custom retention help operationalize those rules. For smaller teams, governance still matters even without Enterprise: a shared meeting workspace can contain customer contracts, hiring conversations, roadmap details and personal information that should not be visible to every user.

SearchSagar rating
Rating Breakdown
4.8/5
4.6/5
4.6/5
4.8/5
The 4.7 SearchSagar score reflects Fireflies' broad capture coverage, multilingual transcription, deep integration ecosystem and strong enterprise controls. Pricing/value is slightly lower because advanced AI is layered on through a separate credit system, while usability reflects both strong positive G2 themes and recurring concerns about AI accuracy and meeting-management friction.
Fireflies versus major alternatives
Fathom is stronger for individuals who want unlimited live-meeting recording and transcription on a simpler Free tier. Otter is strong for live transcription, mobile/in-person capture and straightforward meeting workflows. Descript is better when the recording must be edited into a publishable podcast, training video or social asset.
Fireflies remains the most flexible choice among these when multilingual capture, uploaded files, configurable AI Skills, CRM sync and multiple recording methods all matter in one system.

Final verdict
Fireflies is one of the most complete meeting-intelligence tools for teams that need flexible capture and downstream automation. The ability to combine bot-based meetings, bot-free desktop capture, mobile conversations and uploaded files gives it unusually broad coverage.
The product is strongest when meetings are valuable data rather than just transcripts. CRM sync, AI Skills, AskFred and conversation intelligence can reduce administrative work, but buyers should understand that advanced AI is a second billing layer with its own usage behavior.
