How SearchSagar tests tools
Our documented four-step methodology for reviewing AI tools.
We don't republish press releases. Every recommendation on SearchSagar is the result of a documented process. When we don't have first-hand experience with a tool, we say so — clearly.
The four-step process
- 1
Select and access
We choose tools based on reader demand, market presence, and editorial relevance. We purchase or sign up using our own accounts — we do not accept vendor-supplied test environments for our primary reviews.
- 2
Test important workflows
For each tool category we maintain a checklist of real workflows. A writing tool is asked to draft an article, a code tool is asked to complete a feature, an image tool is asked to produce specific creative outputs. We do not test against synthetic benchmarks alone.
- 3
Compare output, usability, and value
We score tools across consistent criteria — output quality, usability, pricing transparency, integration depth, and value for the target use case. Evidence (screenshots, output samples, pricing snapshots) is captured and stored with the review.
- 4
Review and update
Findings are reviewed by a second editor before publication. Reviews are revisited when a tool releases a major update, changes pricing, or when readers flag issues.
What we will not do
- • We will not publish ratings or first-hand conclusions without supporting evidence.
- • We will not accept payment for placement in our best-of guides.
- • We will not republish vendor marketing claims as fact.
- • We will not hide affiliate relationships from readers.
Tools we have not yet tested are clearly marked "Not yet tested." Pricing data is shown with a "last verified" date — when we haven't verified pricing recently, you'll see a clear notice. Hands-on testing claims require an attached evidence record; if no evidence exists, our system blocks the claim.
