Speechify Pricing 2026: Reader, Premium, Studio & API Costs

Speechify pricing can be confusing because the Speechify brand covers three separate products: the consumer Reader, Speechify Studio and SpeechifyAI. Reader is for listening to text and voice-assisted reading. Studio is for creating commercial voiceovers, dubbing and cloned voices. SpeechifyAI is for developers embedding speech or voice agents into software.

The consumer Reader has a permanent Free tier and Premium at $29 per month. A July 2026 official Speechify pricing guide lists annual Premium at $139 per year, equivalent to about $11.58 per month. Studio and API subscriptions are not included in either Reader plan.

Speechify Reader Free pricing

Reader Free costs $0 and is a permanent tier rather than a short trial. It currently includes text-to-speech functionality, 10 basic voices, listening across devices and playback speeds up to 1.5x.

The Free plan is the correct entry point for users who only need occasional read-aloud functionality or want to test whether listening improves their workflow.

Speechify Reader Premium monthly pricing

Reader Premium costs $29 per month on the live pricing page. Monthly billing is flexible but expensive relative to the annual option.

Premium adds more than 1,000 high-quality voices, 60+ languages, playback up to 5x, Scan & Listen, AI summaries and chats, Google Drive/Dropbox/OneDrive integration, Voice Typing, AI Podcasts and Voice AI Assistant.

Speechify Reader Premium annual pricing

Speechify's July 2026 official student pricing guide lists standard Premium at $139 per year, equivalent to about $11.58 per month.

That makes annual Premium roughly 60 percent cheaper than paying $29 every month for a full year. The trade-off is the larger upfront commitment and stricter refund considerations.

Speechify free plan vs free trial

The permanent Free Reader is not the same as Speechify's promotional Free Trial.

Speechify's Terms currently define the promotional Free Trial as three days unless a different duration is displayed during signup. The trial gives access to additional features, requires a payment method and automatically converts to a paid subscription unless canceled before it ends.

The permanent Free Reader can be used without that automatic conversion.

Does Speechify require a card for the trial?

Yes for the promotional Free Trial under the current Terms: Speechify says the payment method provided at signup is charged when the trial converts.

No card is needed simply to use the permanent Free Reader according to Speechify's current student pricing guidance.

Speechify Studio pricing

Speechify Studio is a different product for voiceover and dubbing production. Its current pricing is Free at $0, Starter at $100 per year and Creator at $300 per year.

Studio Free includes 600 Studio credits, access to 1,000+ voices, Voiceover Studio, Dubbing Studio and Voice Changer, but it does not include voice cloning or commercial usage rights.

Studio Starter includes 86,400 credits, voice cloning, stock media and commercial rights. Creator includes 345,600 credits and everything in Starter.

How Speechify Studio credits work

Studio uses its own credit system. Current pricing documentation says voiceover generation consumes one credit per second, dubbing three credits per second and avatars 30 credits per second.

Exporting already-generated unchanged content does not consume new credits. Generating a new script or changing AI-driven pitch, speed or emotional prosody can consume credits again.

SpeechifyAI API pricing

SpeechifyAI is the separate developer platform. Current public pricing materials list Free at $0, Starter at $10 per month, Pro at $99 and Scale at $499, with Enterprise custom.

Free includes 50,000 TTS characters and 60 voice-agent minutes per month. Starter includes 1 million TTS characters, Pro 3 million and Scale 10 million.

SpeechifyAI TTS unit pricing

Speechify's current developer materials position its paid TTS rates between $6 and $10 per million characters depending on tier. Starter's included/overage economics are around $10 per million characters, while Scale reaches roughly $6 per million.

Developer pricing should not be compared directly with Reader because one is usage-based infrastructure and the other is an end-user application.

SpeechifyAI voice-agent pricing

Current SpeechifyAI materials list bundled voice-agent economics around $0.075 per minute on lower paid tiers, $0.068 on Scale and from about $0.06 at Enterprise.

Speechify states that this bundled rate includes STT, LLM, TTS and orchestration rather than passing those components through as separate vendor charges.

Speechify Reader refund policy

Speechify's current refund policy says monthly, quarterly and discounted consumer subscriptions are non-refundable.

Annual subscriptions can generally qualify when the refund request is made within seven days of payment and the user has consumed no more than 500 HD words. Fraudulent account takeover or an erroneous Speechify charge can also be reviewed within the stated period.

App Store and Google Play refunds

Apple and Google purchases are governed by the relevant store's policies rather than Speechify's direct web refund rules.

Users should request cancellation and refunds through the store account used to subscribe.

Speechify cancellation policy

Consumer users can cancel from Speechify account settings, Apple account settings or Google account settings depending on where the subscription was purchased.

Cancellation prevents future renewal. Paid benefits continue through the current term, and unused days are not prorated or automatically refunded.

Student discounts

Speechify's July 2026 student guidance states that verified students can commonly access a 25-percent Premium discount through services such as UNiDAYS, with similar offers through Student Beans.

Discount availability can change by market and verification provider, so the current checkout and verification page should be treated as authoritative.

Which Speechify product should you buy?

Choose Reader Free for basic personal listening. Choose Reader Premium for daily reading, natural voices, fast playback and AI-assisted reading. Choose Studio for commercial voiceover, dubbing and voice cloning. Choose SpeechifyAI for product integrations, APIs and voice agents.

Speechify pricing compared with alternatives

ElevenLabs currently offers Free, Starter at $6 monthly, Creator at $22 monthly, Pro at $99, Scale at $299 and Business at $990. Murf Studio currently lists Creator at $19 per month billed annually and Business at $66 per month billed annually. Descript's annual-equivalent pricing is $16 for Hobbyist, $24 for Creator and $50 for Business.

Those tools focus more heavily on voice creation or media production than on personal reading. Speechify Reader's direct competitors should therefore be evaluated differently from Studio and API competitors.

Speechify Reader Premium is expensive month-to-month but much more attractive on annual billing. Users who know they will listen every day can save substantially with the $139 annual option.

The more important pricing lesson is product separation. A Reader user does not automatically receive Studio commercial rights or API capacity, so buyers should budget the exact Speechify product required for the job.
