Runway pricing is built around monthly creative credits rather than a fixed number of videos. Free includes 125 one-time credits. Standard includes 625 monthly credits, Pro 2,250, Max 9,500 and Team 6,900 per generating seat pooled into one workspace balance. Enterprise uses custom credit and commercial terms.

Credit cost depends on the model, duration and output settings. Gen-4.5 currently costs 12 credits per second in the web app, while Aleph 2.0 costs 140 credits for a five-second edit in Runway's current pricing examples. That makes real project economics highly dependent on how often creators iterate.

Quick verdict

Standard is the entry paid tier for creators making a few AI-video assets each week. Pro is the strongest value for most serious individual creators because it increases monthly credits to 2,250 and adds higher concurrency, Brand Kit, custom voice, Runway MCP and unlimited 4K video upscaling. Max is designed for heavy solo production with 9,500 credits and one month of rollover. Team is the correct choice for 2–9 people who need shared credits and collaboration. Buyers should also understand current Unlimited Mode: Pro and Max can generate without credits on supported models, but slower queueing and lower concurrency apply, and this mode is separate from the discontinued legacy Unlimited subscription.

  • Runway Agent can plan, generate, analyze and edit larger creative projects while choosing models based on speed, cost or quality preferences.
Cons
  • Recent G2 reviewers explicitly complain that repeated creative iteration can become expensive because every generation draws from a finite credit balance.
  • Different models consume radically different credits per second or image, making output economics harder to compare than the headline subscription price.

Runway Free pricing

Free costs $0 and includes 125 one-time credits, a selection of generative models and 5GB of storage. The one-time credits do not expire.

Free is useful for testing the Runway interface and understanding how credit-based generation works, but it is not designed for recurring monthly production because there is no fresh monthly credit allocation.

Free users currently cannot purchase additional top-up credits directly. To buy additional credits, the account must move to a paid plan.

Runway Standard pricing

Standard costs $15 per month on monthly billing or $12 per month equivalent when billed annually, for a current annual total of $144.

Standard includes 625 monthly credits, all current AI video and image models under the live pricing page, Runway Agent, five parallel generations, music/voice/sound generation, up to three projects, no watermarks, 4K upscaling and 20GB of storage.

Runway's own conversion example says 625 credits can produce about 52 seconds of Gen-4.5 because Gen-4.5 currently uses 12 credits per second.

Runway Pro pricing

Pro costs $35 per month or $28 per month equivalent when billed annually, for a current annual total of $336.

Pro includes 2,250 monthly credits, 15 parallel generations, up to five projects, one Brand Kit, one custom voice clone, Runway MCP, top-up credit purchases, unlimited 4K video upscaling and 100GB of storage.

At the current Gen-4.5 rate, 2,250 credits correspond to about 187 seconds of Gen-4.5 video if every credit were spent on that model. Real output is lower when projects mix models and retries.

Runway Max pricing

Max costs $95 per month or $76 per month equivalent on annual billing, for a current annual total of $912.

Max includes 9,500 monthly credits, early access to some new models, 20 parallel generations, up to ten projects, three Brand Kits, three custom voices, Runway MCP, studio-grade output options such as HDR and ProRes, unlimited 4K upscaling and 500GB storage.

Max also carries up to one month of unused monthly credits into the following month. This makes it more flexible for creators whose workload changes between production cycles.

Runway Team pricing

Team launched in September 2026 and costs $69 per generating seat per month or $55 per seat per month billed annually, a current annual total of $660 per seat.

Team is available for two to nine generating seats. Every seat adds 6,900 credits per month to one shared workspace pool. The plan also provides shared projects, comments, collaborative workflows, shared Agent Skills and Agent connectors.

Unused pooled credits can roll over for one month. Teams with ten or more generating users are directed to Enterprise.

Runway Enterprise pricing

Enterprise uses custom pricing for larger organizations. Runway positions it for businesses that need SSO, third-party model controls, multiple workspaces, enterprise analytics, dedicated creative or technical support and custom credit commitments.

Enterprise can also support centrally managed Runway Dev use, private commercial terms and advanced security requirements.

How Runway credits work

Credits are the unit used for image, video and audio generation. Each model has a published credit cost that can depend on duration, resolution and output mode.

Monthly plan credits are spent before rollover or purchased credits. Standard and Pro plan credits reset each billing cycle. Max and Team can roll over up to one month. Purchased credits never expire.

Gen-4.5 credit cost

Gen-4.5 currently costs 12 credits per second. A five-second generation therefore costs 60 credits and a ten-second generation costs 120.

Standard's 625 monthly credits equal roughly ten five-second Gen-4.5 clips before accounting for other generation activity. Pro yields roughly 37 five-second clips, while Max yields roughly 158.

Aleph 2.0 credit cost

Runway's current pricing comparison lists Aleph 2.0 at 140 credits for a five-second generation, equivalent to 28 credits per second in that example.

Because Aleph is used for editing existing footage, cost should be compared with the manual editing or reshoot expense it can replace rather than only against text-to-video generation.

Third-party model costs

Third-party models can cost very different amounts. Current Runway plan examples list Seedance and other partner models with their own per-generation credit rates.

This is why raw credit totals cannot be interpreted without a model mix. A 9,500-credit Max plan can support very different numbers of finished assets depending on what is generated.

Unlimited Mode pricing

Current Runway documentation says Unlimited Mode is available on Pro and Max for supported models and tools. Generations in this mode do not use credits.

The trade-off is speed and concurrency. Unlimited generations may wait longer during busy periods and fewer jobs can run simultaneously. If a model is not eligible for Unlimited Mode, Runway automatically uses Credits Mode.

Legacy Unlimited plan transition

Runway is keeping eligible legacy Unlimited subscriptions active through November 30, 2026. Monthly Unlimited subscribers then move to Max at the same $95 monthly price unless they cancel.

Annual legacy users receive migration options under Runway's published transition rules. New customers cannot subscribe to the old Unlimited plan.

Purchased credit pricing

Paid Standard, Pro, Max and Team users can purchase additional credits. The current minimum top-up is 1,000 credits.

Runway's current credit documentation says purchased credits begin at $10, corresponding to $0.01 per credit, and purchased credits do not expire.

Runway Dev pricing

Runway Dev uses model-specific developer pricing. Current public rates include Gen-4.5 at $0.12 per second, Aleph 2.0 at $0.28 per second, Seedance 2.5 from $0.20 per second and several image models priced per image.

Runway Dev also includes Workflows, Recipes, Characters and model routing for choosing models based on cost, quality or latency.

Unified web and Runway Dev pricing

On September 18, 2026, Runway announced unified pricing for purchased credits across the web app and Runway Dev, with centralized usage visibility and credit management. The announcement places particular emphasis on enterprise customers and centralized purchasing.

Some older self-serve help documentation still describes web-app and API balances as separate. Organizations adopting the new unified model should confirm the behavior shown in their own billing workspace before budgeting shared credits across both surfaces.

Do Runway credits roll over?

Standard and Pro monthly credits do not roll over. They reset on the billing date. Max and Team roll over up to one month of unused plan credits.

Purchased credits do not expire. Free's one-time 125-credit deposit also does not expire.

Can you buy extra Runway credits?

Yes, on Standard, Pro, Max and Team. Free users must upgrade before buying top-up credits.

Team credit purchases go into the shared workspace pool. Workspace administrators can manage the balance and can configure auto-refill under eligible settings.

Runway annual discounts

Annual billing currently saves 20 percent across Standard, Pro, Max and Team. Standard drops from $15 to $12 per month equivalent, Pro from $35 to $28, Max from $95 to $76 and Team from $69 to $55 per generating seat.

Plan upgrades and downgrades

Upgrades can take effect immediately and are prorated. The credit allocation updates to the new plan during the active billing cycle.

Downgrades generally preserve the current plan through the billing period and apply the unused subscription balance as an invoice credit toward future billing.

Runway cancellation

Subscriptions can be canceled through Plans and Billing. Cancellation stops the next renewal but does not immediately terminate the paid plan.

Paid features remain available until the end of the current billing cycle. Assets and projects remain on the account after the account drops to Free, subject to Free-plan creation limits.

Runway refund policy

Runway may grant refunds at its discretion when a subscription was purchased or renewed within the previous 30 days and remains unused or close to unused.

Unused credit purchases made within the previous 30 days can also be considered for refund. A granted subscription refund terminates the paid plan immediately. Apple and Google Play purchases follow the store's own refund process.

Which Runway plan offers the best value?

Choose Free to test the platform. Choose Standard for occasional paid creation. Choose Pro for regular professional work. Choose Max for heavy solo usage and rollover. Choose Team for 2–9 collaborative creators. Choose Enterprise for larger organizations or governed Runway Dev deployment.

Runway pricing compared with alternatives

Pika Starter is $10 monthly or $8 annual-equivalent, Creator is $35/$28 and Fancy starts at $95/$76. Kling AI's current Standard renewal price is $8.80 monthly, Pro $32.56, Premier $80.96 and Ultra $159.99, with first-subscription promotional prices currently lower. Adobe Firefly Standard is $9.99 per month, Pro $19.99, Pro Plus $49.99 and Premium $199.99.

Credit counts are not directly comparable because each platform prices models, durations, resolutions and features differently.

Final pricing verdict

Runway Pro offers the best balance for individual creators who generate regularly and need professional features. Max is a capacity and flexibility upgrade, not simply a premium badge, because it adds far more monthly credits and one-month rollover.

The true cost of Runway depends on model mix and iteration behavior. Creators who prototype efficiently can get substantial production value from a modest plan, while teams that repeatedly regenerate high-cost video models can burn through even Max or Team credits quickly.

Expert tip

Price one finished deliverable from the number of attempts you normally need, not from the cost of the successful final generation. If a five-second shot takes six attempts, budget six model charges. That is the metric that reveals whether Standard, Pro, Max or Team really fits.
