Grok Review 2026: Pricing, SuperGrok, Build & G2

Grok is no longer just the AI assistant inside X. In 2026 it has become a broad multimodal work platform spanning real-time web and X search, reasoning, voice, image and video generation, connected apps, file analysis, persistent agents and app building. The latest Grok 4.7 model also pushes the product further into coding and long-running knowledge work.

Its biggest differentiator remains current information. Grok can search the public web and X in real time, making it attractive for users who care about fast-moving news, social signals, market conversations and fresh research. But real-time access does not guarantee correctness. SpaceXAI's consumer terms say users should not rely on outputs as the sole source of truth, and current G2 feedback still includes accuracy and hallucination complaints.

SearchSagar has not completed a verified hands-on Grok test. This review is research-based and uses current SpaceXAI pricing, Grok documentation, connector documentation, legal terms, business-security materials, product announcements and current G2 evidence.

What is Grok?

Grok is SpaceXAI's conversational AI assistant, available on grok.com, iOS and Android. It can answer questions, search current information, analyze files, generate images and video, talk by voice and work with connected services.

The current product also includes Grok Build for creating apps and websites, Grok Bot for persistent agent-style work on supported plans and business deployments, and connectors that can search or act on workplace data. This breadth means Grok competes with ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity rather than only with social-search tools.

Who should use Grok?

Grok is best suited to researchers, analysts, developers, creators and knowledge workers who regularly need current web or X information. It is also interesting for teams that want one assistant to reach email, calendars, files, CRM and developer tools.

Creators benefit from image and video generation, while developers can use Grok Build and the latest Grok 4.7 model for coding and agentic tasks. Users who need conservative, highly predictable factual answers should be more cautious.

How we evaluated Grok

Real-time web and X search

Real-time search is Grok's clearest strategic advantage. It can combine normal web sources with X posts, giving users access to fast-moving public conversation that is difficult to reproduce in assistants without native X integration.

This is useful for trend research, product launches, breaking news, developer chatter and social-media analysis. The risk is that speed can amplify unreliable information. A viral post is not automatically a credible source. For consequential claims, open the original source and verify publication date, evidence and authorship.

Grok 4.7

SpaceXAI launched Grok 4.7 on September 21, 2026 as its latest frontier model for coding, agentic tasks and knowledge work. The company says it uses a larger base model, longer reinforcement learning and stronger self-checking than Grok 4.6.

Grok 4.7 is currently available through the xAI API, Grok Build, Cursor and other model gateways. The public consumer pricing page still explicitly lists Grok 4.6 in its plan table. We therefore treat 4.7 as the latest SpaceXAI model but do not claim every consumer plan guarantees it until the plan table is updated.

Voice mode

Voice mode is available on Free and higher plans. It is useful for hands-free brainstorming, quick questions and mobile work. Voice interactions remain subject to account privacy and usage rules, so sensitive information deserves the same care as typed prompts.

Grok Imagine: image and video generation

Grok includes image generation and paid-plan video generation through Imagine. SuperGrok unlocks broader image/video access, while SuperGrok Plus advertises 1080p video creation.

Media generation consumes much more compute than ordinary chat. A user who spends the weekly pool on high-quality video can reach limits much faster than someone using Grok mainly for text. This is one of the most important pricing caveats: the headline plan does not translate into a fixed number of chats or videos.

Grok Build

Grok Build can create functional apps, games, websites and dashboards from natural-language instructions. SpaceXAI expanded the in-chat Build experience to every plan on web and mobile in August 2026.

Published apps can receive a grok.me URL, support access controls and custom domains, and can be exported to GitHub. Grok can also generate app-cover assets and connect generated apps to SpaceXAI APIs.

Generated apps still require testing. Authentication, data handling, payments, security and production reliability should not be assumed correct because the preview works.

Grok Build for coding

SpaceXAI also develops a terminal-oriented Grok Build coding agent with plan, diff and parallel-subagent workflows. It supports AGENTS.md, plugins, hooks, skills, MCP and worktrees.

Grok 4.7 is a major model option in this environment, making Grok relevant to developers beyond conversational coding. Access and model economics can differ between the consumer app, Build environment and API, so those budgets should remain separate.

Files and document analysis

Grok can analyze PDFs, spreadsheets, code, images, audio and other supported files. This supports summarization, extraction and reasoning over uploaded material.

File handling becomes more useful when combined with connectors because the user may not need to download a document locally before asking questions about it. Important extracted facts and calculations should still be checked.

Connectors

Built-in connectors currently include Gmail and Google Calendar, Google Drive, OneDrive, Outlook Mail and Calendar, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and Salesforce.

The connector catalog includes Box, Canva, Gamma, GitHub, Linear, Notion, Vercel and other tools. Custom MCP can expose internal APIs or services when the server is reachable.

Connector depth matters more than connector count. The Google Drive connector can search, read, create and manage authorized files; Salesforce can query and create or update permitted records.

Google Drive privacy

SpaceXAI states that Google Drive connector data is not used to train models and that files are accessed in real time rather than retained through that connector workflow. OAuth permissions control what Grok can read or write.

Organizations should still minimize write permissions and review the scopes requested before connecting shared repositories of sensitive files.

Grok Business

Grok Business costs $30 per user per month. It adds team workspaces, consolidated billing, user analytics, role-based controls, higher limits and a no-training commitment for business data.

Business is aimed at small and midsize teams that want consumer-style Grok functionality with organizational controls. Its price is straightforward, though actual capacity still depends on compute-heavy usage.

Grok Enterprise

Enterprise is custom-priced. It adds custom SSO, SCIM, advanced user controls, custom RBAC, advanced audits, dedicated onboarding, customer-managed encryption keys, application-level encryption and a dedicated data plane.

Enterprise can also negotiate custom rate limits, data residency, support and volume pricing. This is the appropriate tier when governance and dedicated infrastructure matter more than self-serve seat economics.

Weekly usage pool

Since June 2026, paid Grok plans have used one shared weekly usage pool rather than separate daily limits for Chat, Imagine, Voice or Build.

The system measures compute. Simple chat consumes little; high-quality video and long coding tasks consume far more. Users can spend the whole pool on one product if desired, but a few expensive tasks can consume a large share of the week.

Extra Usage Credits

When a paid user reaches the weekly limit, they can buy Extra Usage Credits on the web, upgrade plans or wait for reset. The minimum top-up is currently $5.

Extra credits are used after included weekly usage and expire one year after purchase. Auto Top Up can add credits automatically subject to a user-defined monthly cap.

SpaceXAI says top-up usage is priced at standard rates and is more expensive per action than included subscription usage.

Pricing overview

Refunds and cancellation

Web subscriptions can be managed through Grok billing settings; Apple and Google Play purchases are managed through those stores.

SpaceXAI's current consumer terms state that payments already made are generally non-refundable except where required by law. The FAQ still provides a refund-request workflow for web and Google Play purchases and says approved refunds are typically returned to the original payment method.

That is best read as case-by-case review rather than a guaranteed money-back policy. Apple handles App Store refunds directly.

Consumer data and training

Consumer Grok data can be used to improve models depending on settings, features and legal terms. Users should review privacy settings before entering sensitive personal or business information.

Business and Enterprise have stronger commitments: SpaceXAI says those customer data sets are not used for model training. Companies should not assume an individual SuperGrok account provides the same enterprise protections.

Security

The current pricing page lists SOC 2 Type I and Type II. Business and Enterprise add stronger identity, data-retention and governance controls.

Enterprise expands to SSO, SCIM, advanced audits, customer-managed encryption and dedicated infrastructure. Security certification does not eliminate the need for connector-permission and prompt-data policies.

What G2 users say

SearchSagar's current source record lists Grok at 4.2/5 from 21 G2 reviews. The review base is still small compared with larger assistants.

Positive themes include research speed, real-time X information and concise direct answers. Negative themes include low accuracy, hallucinations, context failures and occasional technical issues.

Grok Bot and persistent agent work

Grok Bot extends the product beyond a single chat session by giving agents persistent workspaces and cloud-computer style execution on supported plans and enterprise environments. Rather than answering one question and stopping, a bot can keep working on a delegated objective, report progress and return when it needs input.

This direction makes Grok more comparable to agentic work platforms than to a conventional assistant. The practical benefit is delegation: research, procurement-style tasks, support or repetitive knowledge work can continue without the user supervising every step.

The risk is action quality. Persistent agents can make a larger number of decisions than a normal chat, so teams should begin with reversible tasks, restrict permissions and audit what the bot changed before increasing autonomy.

Skills and reusable expertise

Grok supports reusable Skills in current web and mobile experiences. Skills can package instructions and workflows for recurring jobs such as document creation, spreadsheets, presentations or structured analysis.

This can reduce prompt repetition and help teams standardize a process. A well-designed skill can encode format, sources, validation rules and expected outputs.

Skills still inherit the weaknesses of the underlying model. If the instructions are outdated or the source connector is wrong, the same mistake can be repeated consistently. Organizations should version and review high-impact skills like any other operational template.

How Grok fits into a mixed AI stack

Grok does not have to replace every other assistant. Some users may keep it specifically for X-native research, Grok Build or media creation while using another assistant for long-form analysis, enterprise knowledge or citation-heavy research.

The downside is duplicated subscription cost and fragmented context. A mixed stack works best when each tool has a clear role. For example, Grok can gather current social signals, while a separate research tool validates primary sources and turns them into a formal report.

How to measure Grok ROI

For an individual, the simplest measure is saved research or production time minus subscription and top-up cost. Track how often Grok replaces manual web/X searching, file handling, coding setup or simple app prototyping.

For teams, also measure connector-driven actions and the amount of manual system switching removed. A $30 Business seat can be valuable if it reliably reduces work across email, CRM and documents, but less compelling if employees mainly use it for occasional chat.

ChatGPT is stronger as a broad independent work platform with research, Work, Codex, plugins and a large ecosystem. Gemini is strongest for users embedded in Gmail, Drive, Docs and Calendar. Perplexity is stronger when source-first web research and citations are the main job.

Grok is one of the most distinctive general AI assistants because current web and X context sit alongside voice, media generation, connectors and app building.
